Arrivals - Glanceable Foursquare check-ins by Dan W, Toby Barnes and Richard Birkin.
Steve Levy, author of Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution,” outlined the hacker ideal at MIT as consisting of the following principles:
- Sharing
- Openness
- Decentralization
- Free access to computers
- World Improvement
Wow. in 1984 Levy distilled down those principles from the hacker ethic, and it clearly obvious to any of us in the industry that the ideas have spread.
… filled with a strong desire to implement these simple principles to my entire appartment.

We don’t need better cameras, we got better algorithms …
How does this influence the development of mobile phone usage? imagine what this could do for your folders containing pictures taken with old phones … pictures of moments you loved, but with quality making them difficult to use.

… is this the only way to communicate the response/balance capabilities? How could they have done this differently?
A robot/computer cannot possibly do what I do. OK, it can do a lot, but it can’t do everything I do.
OK, it can do everything I do, except it needs me when it breaks down, which is often.
OK, it operates without failure, but I need to train it for new tasks.
Whew, that was a job that no human was meant to do, but what about me?
My new job is more fun and pays more now that robots/computers are doing my old job.
I am so glad a robot cannot possibly do what I do

The ‘Song of the Spindle’ is a wonderful short video illustrating an argument for the increased use of music to communicate and what it might lead to… how would this knowledge (the influence of music in dialog) be used in (lets say) political resolutions in the U.N? “If the algorithms that control the stock market was represented through a person……he might sound/look like this.”
A cheeky computer generated “person” without any clear signs of empathy. Especially check out the scene at 0:45 where the reporter tries to ask the “person” for tips on how to deal with the economical situation. Look how small she looks compared to the person on the screen…
